Artist Bio

Chimo Jones is a recording artist from Vancouver, Canada. Chimo began his music career playing tenor saxophone and keyboards in local blues and rock bands, before forming an original funk and soul band with some friends. It was there that Chimo began writing original music, singing lead and backing vocals, and arranging parts for the band's horn section.

Over a period of ten years, Chimo amassed a collection of original songs that didn't quite fit the style of his funk band, but when considered together, had a unique sound that blended Chimo's influences in the genres of funk, soul, jazz, and rock. With the help of some brilliant musicians and some mixing mastery, in 2019, Chimo's debut album, "Visual Chemistry", was born.

Not long after, when the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the live music scene and many other aspects of daily life, Chimo took the opportunity to keep writing. Determined not to take another ten years to produce a follow-up album, Chimo set to work on a new project. Inspired by personal experiences, local and world events, and new musical influences, in 2021, Chimo released the five-song "Love Is Love" EP. Building on the sound of "Visual Chemistry", Chimo used the same core musicians, layered saxophones, backing vocals, and keyboards to create a full, warm sonic experience.

Looking to the future, Chimo plans to put together a live experience to share his music and get back to his performing roots.
